Granny busts Maranatha pupils’ sex orgy

Mpumelelo Nyoni Chronicle ReporterA GROUP of Form Three pupils at the Seventh-day Adventist run Maranatha High School in Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb were recently caught at a ‘sex party’ amid revelations that one of the pupils is pregnant.

Six pupils, all in Form Three at the school, were allegedly found at a house in Kumalo suburb where they allegedly indulged in a sex orgy at a “Halloween party”.

The party was allegedly organised by pupils from schools around the city.

Sources at the schools told The Chronicle that one of the pupils who is a prefect at Maranatha, lied to her grandmother identified as Gogo MaMlilo, that she was going on a trip organised by authorities on November 21.

MaMlilo later pounced on the pupils at the Kumalo house at around 3AM last Sunday where she allegedly found girls asleep in pairs with boys, after a night of sex.

All hell broke loose as the woman lost her temper and beat up the girls, sources told The Chronicle.

“The girls’ plan blew up in their faces when the prefect’s grandmother tried to call her but failed to reach her on her mobile phone.

“She went to the school to get assistance to speak with her granddaughter and was shocked to learn she was not part of the group that went for the trip,” said a source.
The source said MaMlilo made a beeline for her granddaughter’s friends who were intimidated by her uncompromising mood and spilled the beans about their friends’ whereabouts.

“She went to the house in a rage. She found the girls sleeping with the boys and beat them up severely. She force-marched them to the bus stop where they waited until lifts were available. She then dragged them to Nketa Clinic where pregnancy tests showed that one of the pupils was pregnant,” said an official at the school.

Maranatha Adventist High School head Zibusiso Lunga said he was not aware of the incident.

“That’s news to me. I don’t know that. I can’t comment,” he said.

The Chronicle spoke to one of the girls’ uncles, who only identified himself as Chaitezvi and he said he knew his niece was at the party.

“My niece told me that she and her friends were planning on going out and said she’d be back on the same day. She however came the following day and apologised.

“I heard that she could be pregnant but that will have to be verified because I don’t want a situation where she gives birth and dumps her baby,” said Chaitezvi.

He said he was concerned about the prevalence of organised parties among school-going children.

“Having a daughter is complicated because if you are to be stern with her, she won’t tell you what’s going on in her life.

“It’s also very difficult to stop her from attending these parties because it seems like they are common these days,” said Chaitezvi.

The Chronicle caught up with the concerned pupils yesterday and they confirmed having gone to the party but denied having sex.

One of the pupils confirmed that there was sex at the party but said they had not taken part.

“Others had sex but we did not. We slept in a separate room from the boys. MaMlilo found us sleeping in the room and she didn’t beat us up. She only gave us a tongue lashing. She took us for pregnancy tests and mine came out negative. I don’t know about the others,” said the pupil.

Another pupil said: “My grandmother works in the rural areas so my friends and I decided to go to my cousin’s birthday party in Bradfield. We later went for a Halloween party in Kumalo and we spent the night there.”

MaMlilo could not be reached on her mobile phone as she was said to be in the rural areas.
