The musician is reported to have dumped his trademark military gear following mounting pressure from some quarters.

Some of the critics of Jah Prayzah has started a campaign on social media called #MuteJahPrayzah. Part of the campaign reads,

Let’s all mute @jahprayzah. He has remained ambassador of the army that is killing, raping n torturing Don’t play his music, don’t attend his shows #MuteJahPrayzah Retweet 4 cause.

However, the campaign has not proved to be popular as people are speaking out against it. Speaking to local tabloid H-Metro, Jah Prayzah’s manager Keen Mushapaidze denied that the musician is political. Said Mushapaidze.

“Usually Twitter is dominated by negative comments, not just about us but most issues. But this time — when some people, because of their personal Hatred of Jail Prayzah, tried to start this campaign to take away people’s freedom on who they should listen to — Twitter ‘ united to stop that attack.

…It’s been tormenting Jah. I cannot say it has not affected him because cyberbullying is really not easy to deal with. Jab works so hard to produce music and then after spending time, effort and money some people just go on the internet and try to bring you down. However, he has been overwhelmed by the support from everyone who responded to the #MuteJahPrayzah campaign.

…We are not political. I don’t know how many times Jah has said he is apolitical and never wants to be involved in politics. We are happy people were not political when they responded to the smear campaign.”– iHarare
