Pep Guardiola Is Arsenal’s Dream Managerial Replacement For Arsene Wenger – Report

Arsene Wenger's reign at Arsenal is finally drawing to an end and Pep Guardiola is Arsenal’s dream replacement, according to reports in Spain.

Guardiola, 44, is set to be the subject of one of the biggest managerial tug-of-wars in recent history, with his current contract at Bayern Munich set to expire in the summer of 2016.

Bayern are unsurprisingly keen to keep hold of him, and he has hinted that he could extend his deal at the Allianz Arena beyond its current expiry date.

Many of Europe’s biggest teams are monitoring the situation, though, and according to Marca Arsenal have identified the Spaniard as the perfect replacement for Wenger, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium is set expire in 2017.

In the paper version of Marca – as cited by SportWitness – it’s claimed that Guardiola could extend his contract at Bayern by a year or take another sabbatical, thus freeing him up to take over from Wenger before the 2018/19 season.

The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all understood to harbour a keen interest in the manager, and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that the Premier League will be his next destination.

‘I think Guardiola will end up training in England. He is a born competitor and wants to win in several countries…by the way, he already speaks English,’ he told Sky Sports.
