Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge Has More Domestic Goals Than Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney This Season

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge played his first match after a lengthy sideline due to injury and was back to doing what he does best against Southampton in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.

The Reds striker looked a little off the pace but still managed to grab a four minute brace against Ronald Koeman’s side before the half-time.

Despite being out for the majority of the campaign, Sturridge’s two goals on the night takes his tally in domestic competitions to four compared to Wayne Rooney’s three for Manchester United.

England captain Rooney will no doubt be looking over his shoulder at the wealth of attacking options Roy Hodgson has at his disposal ahead of Euro 2016.

The likes of Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane and Daniel Sturridge are all putting their names forward to be included in Hodgson’s plans.
