The 69-year-old watched Chelsea's 3-1 win over Sunderland from Roman Abramovich's box and was sat alongside Drogba sparking rumours the Ivorian could be set for a return to the club.

The striker ended his second spell at Stamford Bridge in the summer to join Montreal Impact and still has a year to run on his contract at the MLS club.

But Hiddink revealed his desire to have the 37-year-old as part of his team if possible.

"I'd be happy to have him here," Hiddink said.

"At the moment he is still attached to his contract in Canada. But it is intended that he's involved."

Drogba played under Hiddink during his previous spell as caretaker manager in 2009, scoring 11 goals including in the FA Cup final.
